The DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton is located in the heart of Downtown Bend, Oregon on a small but steep hill. This hill makes traveling up it in a manual wheelchair nearly impossible so to go to and from the hotel you will need your own transportation unless using a power wheelchair. The entrance has an automatic door but unfortunately no lowered section to the front desk for wheelchair travelers. Nearby is the elevator and dining hall. No rooms are located on the ground floor.

For the mornings guest can enjoy a paid breakfast buffet that will feature eggs or egg soufflés, sausage links, waffles, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, sliced and whole fruit and breakfast breads and cereal. There is also Starbucks that will be open near the bar area which will sells breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches. No matter what season, the hotel features an indoor pool and spa and both are equipped with battery-operated lifts. The door to the pool is not automatic and opens with the room card.

No matter the room you are in, there is a carpeted hallway to get there.  The following are the ADA rooms available at the DoubleTree:

105-King with roll-in shower
205-King with tub
138-2 Queens with roll-in shower
207-2 Queens with tub
107-2 Queens with tub

I stayed in room #105. Right behind the door with a lowered peep hole is the closet that has an option to lower the bar so it is within reach. The bed is at a good height for transferring and both sides of the bed can be accessed by a wheelchair. The bathroom was very spacious with grab-bars around the toilet and the roll-in shower. A permanent flip-down showerbench and a backless portable showerchair were provided. Overall, the layout worked well.
