| San
Francisco's Golden Gate Park has been preserved
since 1870 and is 1,017 acres (20% larger than Central
Park, New York). All over the park are paved walkways
and there are even more "off-road" paths, some
are worth exploring if using a wheelchair. This lush park
is filled with natural beauty, like lakes , ponds and
even a waterfall. In addition to acres of trails there
are many attractions, so spending an entire day at Golden
Gate Park is "a walk in the park." Being that
there is so much to see and the size of the park, it's
recommenced that a wheelchair traveler drive to this location.
There are a number of ways to get into the park and parking
available almost everywhere alongside the road but there
are the occasional designated handicapped spots but are
usually hard to come by. (View
