The town of Camden, Maine is a beautiful North East town with colonial style buildings and an active harbor. The cute downtown is filled with specialty shops, restaurants, and galleries. Restaurants of all price range overlook the harbor and feature the freshest seafood of the Atlantic Ocean, which is a must. There are also decadent ice cream parlors and candy shops. The nightlife is not like a big city, but Camden's chill vibe and great hospitality makes it an East Coast gem filled with colonial charm.

Not all public buildings in the town of Camden are wheelchair accessible due to the snowy winters and their age. Some have two steps to the entrance [above middle photo & above left photo, left arrow]. However, some may have a back entrance that is wheelchair friendly but is not always the case. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of places that are up to the ADA code, like this ramp to a shoe store in the above right photo, or do not have any stairs, like in the above left photo, right arrow.

The Lord Camden Inn is located in the hub of the downtown and is just feet from the ocean harbor. This hotel is incredibly welcoming and accommodating for a wheelchair traveler. For example, the hotel has a portable ramp they can leave in the front entrance (above right photo). Other traveling perks include a private parking spot, free of charge, a block and a half away, which needed a card to access. In addition, a complimentary breakfast was available every morning on the 2nd floor.

When it comes to the room, unfortunately is no roll-in shower but the Lord Camden Inn does offer a luxurious handicapped room, located on the 2nd floor via elevator. The restroom is extremely large and for the shower the hotel offers additional bars to get in and out (shown in the above right photo). There is also a roll-up sink (above right/left photo) as well as a seat to put on the toilet if needed. Accesses the bed is a jump but oh so soft and worth the effort. There is also a great balcony overlooking the street.
